Bloomsburg Baseball Drops Pair

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Shippensburg University on Tuesday by scores of 9-2 and 5-2.
In game one, the Red Raiders got three runs in the top of the first inning with Jared Boger driving in two runs with an single. The Huskies cut the lead to 3-1 with Chris Brown (Vestal, NY/Vestal) getting a bases loaded walk to drive in the third inning before Shippensburg put the game away with five runs in the fourth inning. Bloomsburg tacked on a run in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Keith Sacarakis (Allentown/Liberty).
In game two, the Red Raiders took a 1-0 lead in the top of fourth inning on a home run by Jared Ellis. The Huskies, though, came right back and tied the score in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Rob Watlock (Plains/Coughlin).
Shippensburg went back in front 3-1 on a couple of unearned runs in the top of the fifth. The Huskies, though, came back once more and cut the mark to 3-2 when Andy Bucher (Littlestown/Littlestown) scored on a passed ball in the sixth inning. But, the Red Raiders tacked on two more runs in the seventh to win 5-2.
Bucher and Watlock both went 2-3 in game two to lead the Huskies.
Bloomsburg, 3-14, will host Pace University in a three-game series starting Friday with a single game and a twinbill on Saturday.
